Hi! My name is Naina and I am an Ayurvedic Practitioner. And this video today is going to be about Prakriti & Dosha now you might come across the words Prakriti & Dosha a lot if you are new to Ayurveda and it is basically a way of describing your individual constitution, now depending on what that constitution is you are going to be given different medicines, different lifestyle, different advices so its important to start learning about what your prakriti might be and also your dosha, so can you can bring yourself into balance and know what is good for you So lets talk a little bit today about what the doshas are and what they mean for you so your individual constitution is a make up of five great elements which are Ether, Air, Fire, Water, Earth Ayurveda teaches us everything on the outside is the same as everything within us so this is why when we look at the manifested universe we can see these five elements and we can also do that, when we look at ourselves so the individuality part comes in when you are an individual make up of different amounts of these elements so depending upon which of element you have more they are going to be given to you and manifest within you as different personality traits different physical characteristics and more importantly for Ayurvedic practictioners and yourself, you will find out which diseases you are more prone to so lets talk about the three doshas, the first one is the Vata Dosha which is elements of Air & Ether so physically Vata people tend to quite thin and they have a dry quality to them their hair can be quite curly, qualities of air and ether are called subtle, dry, rough, mobile and clear. So that’s why the physical body would tend to be more dry and rough and can suffer with dry skin mentally vata type people do have the tendency of quick thinking, very creative and moving very fast they find it difficult to stick to one thing so they are type who will be jumping from jobs, relationships, places of living, all these things out of balance, physical body as i’ve mentioned can suffer with dry skin, constipation and normally, some IBS type symptoms and mentally they can become more anxious, lonely and insecure so vata type people are very good at creative pursuits, they could be life and soul of a party and they could give a really good energy and bubbliness to a situation but when they are out of balance, they can become quite withdrawn quite isolated and lonely and suffer with things like anxiety Vata type people have something called Vishama Agni which means erratic that is up and down so they often find themselves skipping meals although its important for them to have three regular meals a day the products i would recommend if you are more of the Vata constitution would be the Brainkey Gold Malt because it is very good for mental balance and soothing and calming the mind and the second item I would recommend is the Kayakey Massage Body Oil because Vata type people, because of the dry nature the oil is very grounding and massage is very good for their doshas, to keep them in balance Let’s now look at the Pitta Dosha Pitta Dosha is the elements of fire and water so the qualities that they are going to bring are hot, sharp, sour slightly smelly mobile and slightly oily and spreading so the physical characteristics of the Pitta type person will be that their body is quite lean and muscular and normal build outside their hair tends to be more straight and lustrous but they have a tendency for it to grey early and for it to fall out they generally have good skin because the Pitta dosha is quite predominant and therefore they have a natural glow so mentally, Pitta type people are very competitive and focused, determined and sharp in their nature, very logical and organized, they make really great leaders out of balance, Pitta type person can suffer with breakouts, stress and sometimes, acid reflux so mentally out of balance, the Pitta type person can become quite competitive, aggressive, jealous and umm, generally a little bit selfish and ruthless. Their digestion is Tikshna which means it is very sharp so this means they get hungry very quickly and they can also eat very large quantities The two products I would recommend for Pitta dosha type people, would be number one the Keyliv Malt by Amrutam because one of the seats of Pitta is the liver So when the Pitta is out of balance, it is likely the liver is going to be a little bit overstressed so fixing the liver and balancing the liver can alleviate lot of Pitta type symptoms and problems the second item I recommend is the Kuntal Care Hair Oil and this is because of the tendency of Pitta type to lose their hair, so it is important that they do regular scalp massage with a cooling oil with Ayurvedic Ingredients, like the Kuntal Care Hair Oil The third dosha- the Kapha dosha is the elements of water and earth, this dosha is very grounding loyal and secure the qualities of water and earth are heavy, dense, sticky, slimy and ross and slightly cool as well. Physically Kapha type people tend to have a larger frame and they have more padded joints and they are very stocky, you could say and have a very strong immunity, they have quite pale skin and big eyes and mentally Kapha type people can be very loyal, very giving and very generous, very soft and very calm and cold headed out of balance, Kapha type people can have a tendency towards suffering with things like obesity, diabetes and thyroid problems. Out of balance mentally They can suffer with things like attachment and greed So Kapha type is really good at running a family or a business. Because when they do something, they do it for others and they do it with all their heart and they do it very properly and thoroughly Their digestion agni is something called Manda which means slightly slow and weak, this means that Kapha type people could do with just one or two meals a day, although they tend to always eat, three times a day even when they are not hungry, Two products from Amrutam I recommend for the Kapha dosha First one would be the Nari Sondarya Malt for female health, because a lot of female health disorders, especially something like PCOS endometriosis, have their roots in Kapha dosha being vitiated so by balancing out that the Nari Sondarya Malt – they can look to re-balancing themselves Second item I recommend is the the Lozenge Malt and this is because one of the seats of Kapha is the lungs, so while looking after the lungs and making sure they are free of mucus and congestion, you can make sure that Kapha dosha is kept in balance I hope that you found that little bit insightful and you can start to look at what your dosha, might be with the Amrutam Dosha Quiz which is found on their website lastly i want to finish off this video by saying that Ayurveda teaches us that we are balance of the body, the mind and the soul so when we are talking about the doshas, we do look a lot at physical and mental characteristics and we are looking at the body and the mind but if we think about it, our soul does not have a body or a mind, it’s its own entity and really our journey here is to allow our body and mind to come into balance, so that the soul is able to shine through its rightful journey So don’t fixate too much on what your Dosha might be and create an identity around it and see it as a fixed thing Its certainly a tool for you to use to what to keep yourself in balance with in terms of the doshas but ultimately you want to keep them in balance and allow something deep to shine through within you If you have any other questions feel free to write to the Amrutam website or you can contact my personal page too and i hope that you found this enjoyable and good luck with your journey with Ayurveda!
