The DiSC Model is a simple but powerful method
for understanding a person’s behavioral traits. Personality is a stable, consistent
pattern of thoughts, behavior and emotion. Behavior is an expression of personality.
Each person has a behavioral style along with their personality. The Inscape DiSC Profile
goes beyond a personality profile by identifying how a person may tend to behave in various
circumstances. DiSC is an acronym for the four DiSC dynamics: Dominance, influence,
Steadiness and Conscientiousness. The DiSC Profile identifies the level at which each
of these dynamics makes up your behavioral style.
A high D, or Dominance, is a results oriented style that focuses on immediate results, causes
action and gets things done. But they may appear to be insensitive toward others, highly
demanding and overstepping of authority. High I, or influence, is a people-oriented
style that is great with people, enthusiastic, very articulate and outgoing. They may appear
to lack follow-through, talk too much and overcommit.
A high S, or Steadiness, is a team-oriented style that is consistent and predictable,
patient and focused on building relationships. However they may appear to resist quick change,
avoid conflict and procrastinate. A high C, or Conscientiousness, is a task-oriented
style that focuses on quality and accuracy, thinks analytically and tends to be diplomatic.
But they may also appear to be overly cautious, rigid and sensitive to criticism.
Just as every person is different, so too is each person’s behavioral style. The Inscape
DiSC Profile identifies the four major styles and the various levels of each that reveals
your particular profile pattern. A DiSC Profile includes a personalized 23-page narrative
report with insights into motivation and work habits, detailed definitions and keys to understanding
your behavior and the behavior of others. Better individual understanding leads to self-growth,
better communication, stronger teams and greater productivity.
