Solskjaer planning to sign two forwards this summer and sell Man Utd flop Alexis Sanchez

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer intends to sign two forwards
this summer and sell Manchester United flop Alexis Sanchez, according to reports. Under-fire manager Solskjaer was desperate
to strengthen his struggling squad during the January transfer window but United only
signed £68m Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo on loan. The Norwegian boss was left disappointed as
Manchester United failed to sign his compatriot Erling Haaland last month and hopes to compensate
by bringing in two forwards in the summer, according to MEN. Premier League playmakers James Maddison and
Jack Grealish have long been linked with moves to Old Trafford and Solskjaer will look to
add more creativity to his squad at the end of the season. Manchester United are seemingly ready to cut
their losses on Chile international Sanchez, however, with the MEN claiming that the club
have begun to search for interested parties ahead of a summer transfer. Sanchez joined United from Premier League
rivals Arsenal in 2018 but has endured a miserable spell at Old Trafford and was sent on loan
to Inter Milan at the start of this season. Solskjaer tipped Sanchez to revive his Red
Devils career in a press conference last month but is privately said to be ready to sanction
his departure. Speaking on Monday, Old Trafford chief Ed
Woodward said the the summer transfer window represented an ‘important opportunity’
for Manchester United. ‘Our recruitment process focuses on analysis
and selection of players over the course of a season, with a view to the following summer
transfer window,’ he said. ‘As part of the rebuild we see this coming
summer as an important opportunity. ‘There has been no shortage of investment
in players over the past few years, with over £200million spent since Ole became manager. ‘Our aim is to ensure that we continue to
achieve consistency in quality of recruitment. ‘The recruitment department is working to
a clear plan and philosophy, along with Ole and his coaching staff. ‘Our focus is on bringing in a combination
of experience and the best young players with potential to develop further, fusing graduates
from our academy with high-quality acquisitions.’
