Hi, my name’s Paul Besnier. I farm in Retiers, near Rennes, in Brittany (France). I started my dairy goat farm two years ago. Goat farming being not very common in Brittany, it was the perfect opportunity for me to be able to turn my passion into a job. I have 260 goats: that’s 260,000 litres of milk to produce every year. At the beginning, I was feeding out my goats by hand. Being alone on my farm, it is a task that took a lot of time in the day: an hour and a half a day is something quite substantial. I wouldn’t have been able to do all the work I needed to do if I had to feed out my animals by hand all the time. To make my life easier, I was looking for a bale feeder, particularly a compact model without loading arms since my barn is quite low. That’s when I came across the Hustler bale feeder. I chose the SL300X model because of its compact size and because it has an integrated headstock with tynes, which allows me to load the bale on the machine, without having to use another tractor or another piece of equipment. This bale feeder requires very little maintenance and is really very easy to use. It goes behind a small tractor and it is perfectly capable of doing this challenging job as well as a much more sophisticated, and much more expensive machine. I save about three quarters of an hour to an hour a day with my bale feeder, which gives me much more time to work on the fields, which lets me complete my haymaking work more easily without having to come back earlier to feed out to my goats. It offers me more flexibility in my day-to-day work. In the future, I would like to continue to equip my farm so that I can save even more time and get away from the back-breaking work. For all people who are in the same situation as me, I highly recommend the Hustler bale feeders because they really save us time.
