Are You TYPE A or TYPE B PERSONALITY?! – Dreams Around The World

August 30, 2019

Hey Dan here and in this video we are
talking about personality type but we are not talking about enfps or infps or
any of these sixteen personalities instead we’re gonna look at something
new for the channel. It’s type A or type B now this is something I’ve been diving
into recently for some of my own reasons that I’ll get into at the end of the
video now I’m sure you’ve heard of these terms before even in casual usage you
know oh that person so type A but in this video I want to explore the traits
of Type A’s and type B’s and maybe more importantly talk about the effects it
can have on your life and things you can do to adjust so maybe those effects
aren’t nearly as extreme so the first thing to know is these terms come from
the medical community actually looking at heart disease and I believe it was a
doctor who was looking at the personality traits that are most likely
to lead to high stress and therefore higher chances of heart disease and so
that’s important to keep in mind when looking at these two types is it’s
coming from a medical perspective is which personality type is more likely to
impact your health and how is it going to impact your health so let’s start
with looking at three traits of a Type A personality now if we wanted to be
really kind to someone with a Type A we could describe them as ambitious someone
who gets things done someone who takes charge that would be the wording I would
use now if you look at the definitions what you will often see is impatient
aggressive controlling if you’ve got some time to kill and you’ve never seen
the show Entourage I would definitely recommend searching here in YouTube or
maybe I’ll link to a video at the end best of Ari Gold and that you will see
the purest of pure Type A personalities in action now Type B personalities are
usually described as more laid-back more patient more flexible looking at these
two different types of type A and type B it’s not too hard to figure out which
one is most likely to experience more stress of course it is the type A
personality the person who always wants to get more done who is very driven by
results so I started looking into these two different types when I had this
issue with my I won’t get into the details but basically the main people
who suffer from this are men age 30 to 50 with a type A personality and when I
first got diagnosed with this I thought you know maybe it’s a different reason
I’m this ketogenic diet there could be all
these different things coming up I wasn’t really thinking if I’m type A or
type B but in my mind I had type A as being like very competitive very
controlling and this extreme personality like the business executive and I didn’t
necessarily think of myself as a type B either but I thought you know I like to
go for walks in the park I travel a lot in generally I’m not super stressed out
or really aggressive trying to like crush the competition or something so
I’m probably not that type-a right now we can pause for laughter as everyone
who knows me now we can take a pause for laughter as everyone who knows me says
you’re not type-a okay so the problem when looking at type A or type B can be
one of the same things with looking at any personality typing system is we tend
to look at the extremes so yes the most extreme type a is probably like an Ari
Gold and extreme aggressive control freak who always has to win but just
because you’re not that does not mean you’re not the other extreme so I
started to dive more into the type A and type B personalities and get some more
positive examples of Taipei’s and what I found out there is generally type a is
always driven by something very gold driven trying to make things happen and
it’s not gold driven necessarily that they write it down and have like their
three-month plan but gold driven in that there has to be a purpose behind things
so yes I do go for walks but usually it’s because I know in the back of my
mind I need a break or I’ll burn out and not get as much work done I do like to
go for runs and spend time with friends and I actually just enjoy doing those
things but I usually do it because I feel like I have to like this is good
for me this is part of being a better person or feeling better or
accomplishing my goals or something like that and yes I am very impatient my
wonderful girlfriend Gabby in my mum’s words has softened me and helped me be
more patient and maybe a little more type B in some of my traits but by
default I’m definitely impatient now of course if you talk to any type a we
would say impatient yeah we like to get things done why do you want to sit
around all day there’s so much we can do there’s so much we have to make happen
and so it isn’t about whether I think Type A or type B is better for society
or anything else but if you are a Type A personality which apparently
no surprise I am you may want to look at some ways to adopt more type B trait now
as you keep watching the video just let me know in the comments or in this poll
that’s gonna pop up do you think you are type A or type B now haven’t went as
deep into this as I have with other personality theories of course but my
understanding is that there’s definitely more cultural influence and more changes
you can make in terms of being type A or type B so you’re probably not going to
change your type how you are but you can adopt more type B traits if you are type
A so for example I mentioned before learning to go for walks I will often
the office I work out of is in the center of Prague close to the river so
often go by the river listen to an audiobook or some chill-out music and
just walk by the river for half an hour an hour these sorts of things of course
things like yoga and meditation or the cliches right the stressed-out executive
is like you have to start meditating and that’s not a bad thing it might be
cliche but it’s cliche because it has very positive effects and helps out so
if you are type-a or are spending your life with someone who is Type A and
you’re type B which is very common it’s quite a complimentary relationship you
can definitely look at behavioral changes to change how you react to
things to change your levels of patience and to ultimately change the stress
levels the whole purpose of these two personality types is looking at how they
affect your stress levels and ultimately that long term impact on your health now
as I try to implement this more and more in my own life I will in the future
share some of the things I learn and the things that work well for me but one
thing I’ll say from the start is don’t try to force extreme type B behaviors if
you are type A there are many different ways to relax and disconnect in fact I
read recently that for corporate workers who are also in the military reserves
their weekends doing military training actually has about the same effects on
their bodies in terms of relaxing as taking a vacation and just being at the
beach so disconnecting and relaxing doesn’t have to be this extreme type be
like sitting on the beach and not moving for 8 hours I could never ever do that
your form of relaxing can be doing something else going for a run taking a
trip that’s a bit of an adventure for you even like playing video games
thing like this you can disconnect and relax and more of a type a fashion which
is probably going to be a lot more effective for you if you are quite
impatient and quite driven the odds that you’ll just be able to sit around and do
nothing all day to relax probably not going to happen right so definitely keep
that in mind and don’t feel bad if you can’t just sit still and do nothing all
day find ways to disconnect and relax that
are aligned with the things you like to do and will actually be enjoyable for
you now below in the comments if you haven’t done it yet let me know do you
think you’re type A or type B and why do you think that. Thank you for watching. If
you’re new to the channel hit that subscribe button hit the bell I publish
new videos at least twice every single week. Thank you for watching and I will
catch you in the next video soon!

I'm definitely type A. I've always had the best time when I've done a lot of things in school. Piano lessons, dance classes, plus chemistry and biology lessons, etc. My schedule was full but I've felt alive. In university when I just went to my classes and studied, but nothing more, I felt awful. I realized that I need various things to do. When I don't have much to do I feel anxious and depressed. of course I can watch Netflix all day, but in the end, I don't feel ok. To me, relaxation is going for long walks, playing basketball, bike tours in the wild. Which are exciting, but also good for my body. 2 in 1.
I can be very patient with people, but if I have to wait for results it physically hurts to be patient.
I think the best word for type A is "active". 😀

I'm definitely a type A. Incredibly impatient, always filling my schedule to overflowing, must get all the things done. Must be productive, must do all the things! I don't consider myself aggressive, though I'm often referred to as Tourettes Tash when I get frustrated, but I think I feel more like the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland lol.

Love the vid. I'm naturally type B but I spent a number of years out of my comfort zone adopting type A traits.

Wow, this video made me self aware. I realize inside I’m a type A and through life’s disappointments and my cultural environment I have taken on type B traits. And in some ways the ever increasing busyness of life these days is almost forcing people to be more type A.

I’m a type A for sure 😂😂😂: impatient and super goal oriented; wasting time is my worst nightmare. I also happen to be an ENFP. I think there might be a connection (I have a feeling most, if not all, ENFPs are type A)

    Total B

I think I've always been a type B by nature….laid-back, not known as the most ambitious tbh, I tend to put things off, or not rush to get everything done, depending. On the other hand, certain situations can provoke a real type A to come out of me. Like for example, if the people I live with are constantly goofing around, not pulling their weight, rude, improper….then I can be more aggressive and impatient and stressed, but usually I'm a very patient type….and although they say patience is a virtue, I've come to see that sometimes people can be too patient….to a fault….and it can hinder the results you may want to achieve…. :/

I'm a burnt out Type A and am still too poorly to achieve the things I'm driven to want to do. The behaviour/mindset hasn't changed even though I can't carry through. It's super frustrating and super stressful. Any advice? Thanks. Great to see this video

Definitely type B ..I am a tortoise, and unless I am Interested in doing something I take my time and if its low priority, it may go on the so called back burner. Granted having some tools that I don't have currently would be a big help in getting some boring things done quicker. It's mainly about balance, kind of an ironic thing for a type B Libra ENFP. But I try to get at least one or two must be done things done daily. But I do know I will never be a type A, and that's okay with me.. There is already too much stress in life, type B works for me.

Type A ENFP-T here 🤚 I'm not aggressive nor controlling though. Just ambitious and driven. Yes, there has to be a purpose behind things I do! And yes, I am impatient by default, although the Lord has been teaching me through my Type B husband and experiences to be more patient. Prayer and meditation also helps a lot.
