10 Police Interrogation Techniques That You Need To Know About: How Do Police Extract Confessions?

November 9, 2019

THE GOOD-COP BAD-COP ROUTINE, THE PRISONER’S DILEMMA, MAKING FALSE PROMISES OF LENIENCY, OFFERING MORAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL JUSTIFICATIONS FOR THE CRIME… POLICE OFFICERS USE A VARIETY OF TECHNIQUES TO EXTRACT CONFESSIONS, ADMISSIONS OF GUILT, AND/OR INCRIMINATING STATEMENTS. HERE ARE 10 POLICE INTERROGATION TECHNIQUES THAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT — FROM THE GENTLE AND SOFT, TO THE MORE MANIPULATIVE, CONFRONTATIONAL, AND COERVICE! FIRST, WE NEED TO DISTINGUISH BETWEEN POLICE INTERVIEWS AND POLICE INTERROGATION. INTERVIEWS AND INTERROGATIONS ARE TWO DISTINCT AND YET RELATED, SOMETIMES OVERLAPPING, CONSTRUCTS. GENERALLY SPEAKING, THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF INTERVIEWING IS TO COLLECT INFORMATION, AND TO FIND OUT QUOTE-ENDQUOTE THE TRUTH OF WHAT HAPPENED. INTERROGATIONS ON THE OTHER HAND, ARE CONDUCTED FOR ACCUSATORIAL OF PURPOSES. THE OBJECTIVE OF THE INTERROGATION IS TO EXTRACT INCRIMINATING STATEMENTS, ADMISSIONS OF GUILT, AND/OR CONCESSIONS. IN OTHER WORDS, WHEN POLICE OFFICERS INTERROGATE A SUSPECT, THEY HAVE A PRETTY GOOD IDEA THAT THE SUSPECT IS GUILTY, OR AT LEAST, THEY BELIEVE THE SUSPECT IS GUILTY BECAUSE THEY HAVE ENOUGH EVIDENCE THAT POINTS TO THE GUILT OF THE SUSPECT. THE POLICE WILL ALMOST NEVER TELL YOU THAT THEY’RE GOING TO INTERROGATE YOU, THEY WILL ALWAYS SAY THAT THEY JUST WANT TO HAVE A WORD WITH YOU, HAVE A CHAT WITH YOU, OR JUST ASK YOU A COUPLE QUESTIONS IN ORDER TO TIE UP A FEW LOOSE ENDS. IN FACT, MANY INTERROGATIONS ACTUALLY START WITH INTERVIEWING IN ORDER TO GET THE SUSPECT TO TALK, TO GET THE SUSPECT TO GIVE UP HIS OR HER RIGHTS, FOR THE POLICE OFFICER TO ESTABLISH WHAT THEY CALL A BEHAVIORAL BASELINE, AND FOR THE POLICE OFFICER TO ESTABLISH RAPPORT WITH THE SUSPECT SO THAT THEY CAN KEEP THE SUSPECT TALKING. ALL RIGHT, WE’RE GETTING A LITTLE BIT AHEAD OF OURSELVES HERE, LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT SOME OF THE MOST COMMON STRATEGIES, TACTICS, TECHNIQUES, WHATEVER YOU CALL THEM, THAT POLICE USE TO EXTRACT CONFESSIONS. NUMBER ONE: THE PRETEXT PHONE CALL. THIS HAPPENS EVEN BEFORE THE INTERROGATION, THE POLICE WILL ARRANGE FOR THE ALLEGED VICTIM OR SOMEONE RELATED TO THE VICTIM TO CALL YOU OUT OF THE BLUE, SAYING SOMETHING LIKE — IF YOU APOLOGIZE FOR WHAT YOU DID, THEN WE WILL NOT GO TO THE POLICE OR PRESS CHARGES. WE JUST WANT TO HEAR YOU SAY THAT YOU’RE SORRY ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED AND THAT YOU DIDN’T MEAN TO HURT US… SOMETHING LIKE THAT. AND OF COURSE, IF YOU APOLOGIZED, THEN THE RECORDING OF THIS PHONE CALL WOULD MOST LIKELY BE ADMITTED IN COURT AS YOUR ADMISSION OF GUILT OR EVEN AS YOUR CONFESSION. THIS CAN HAPPEN EVEN BEFORE THE POLICE INTERROGATE YOU, THEY MAY HAVE ALREADY GOTTEN YOUR INCRIMINATING STATEMENTS, ADMISSIONS OF GUILT, OR CONFESSION THROUGH THIS PRETEXT PHONE CALL. THE SECOND TECHNIQUE IS — ISOLATION. WHEN IT COMES TO POLICE INTERROGATION, THE FIRST THING THEY’RE GOING TO DO IS TO ISOLATE YOU. THE POLICE OFFICER WOULD TRY TO MAKE YOU FEEL ISOLATED, ALONE, AND COMPLETELY POWERLESS. THE INTERROGATION ROOM IS USUALLY VERY SMALL, IT HAS NO WINDOW, YOU CANNOT SEE OUT, THERE’S NOTHING ON THE WALL, THERE’S NO POSTERS, NO PAINTINGS, NO CLOCKS, NO NOTHING, WHICH MEANS THERE IS NOTHING FOR YOU TO FIX YOUR EYES ON, YOU WILL HAVE TO LOOK AT AND LISTEN TO THE INTERROGATOR. MOST LIKELY YOU WILL BE SEATED AT THE CORNER OF THE ROOM IN A CHAIR THAT CANNOT MOVE WHILE THE POLICE OFFICER WOULD BE SITTING IN AN OFFICE CHAIR WITH WHEELS SO THAT THEY CAN EASILY MOVE CLOSER TO YOU OR FARTHER AWAY FROM YOU, DEPENDING ON THE SITUATION. SOMETIMES THE POLICE OFFICER WILL PLACE YOU IN THE INTERROGATION ROOM AND JUST LEAVE YOU THERE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME BEFORE QUESTIONING YOU. THIS IS TO FURTHER ENHANCE YOUR SENSE OF ISOLATION AND POWERLESSNESS. NUMBER THREE: RAPPORT-BUILDING. FREQUENTLY, THE INTERROGATION BEGINS RATHER PLEASANTLY. THE POLICE OFFICER WOULD TRY TO ESTABLISH RAPPORT WITH YOU IN ORDER TO GET YOU TO TALK TO THEM. THEY WILL BEGIN BY ASKING YOU CASUAL AND FRIENDLY QUESTION, THINGS LIKE — HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN LIVING IN THIS TOWN? I SEE YOU’RE WEARING A BASKETBALL HAD, WHICH TEAM DO YOU SUPPORT? OH, REALLY? ME TOO. THE POLICE OFFICER MIGHT OFFER YOU FOOD AND DRINKS, SOME POLICE OFFICERS MIGHT EVEN GO THE EXTRA MILE AND WEAR SIMILAR KIND OF CLOTHES AS YOU IN ORDER TO EMPHASIZE SIMILARITY AND TO ESTABLISH RAPPORT. THEY INTERACT AND CHAT WITH YOU IN ORDER TO SEE WHAT YOU ARE LIKE WHEN YOU ARE RELAXED AND TELLING THE TRUTH IN ORDER TO ESTABLISH A BEHAVIORAL BASELINE SO THAT LATER ALL THEY WILL BE ABLE TO SENSE WHEN YOU’RE TENSE AND NOT TELLING THE TRUTH. DURING THIS PORTION OF THE INTERROGATION, CHANCES ARE YOU MIGHT FEEL THAT THE POLICE OFFICER IS A GENUINELY NICE PERSON AND A PLEASANT CONVERSATIONALIST AND THAT YOU MIGHT ACTUALLY FEEL THAT YOU REALLY ENJOY TALKING TO THIS PERSON. THAT, OF COURSE, IS WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO FEEL. THAT IS EXACTLY THE OBJECTIVE OF THE RAPPORT BUILDING PHASE OF THE INTERROGATION. NUMBER FOUR: WAIVER OF RIGHTS. AND NOW, AFTER YOU HAVE BEEN CHATTING WITH THE POLICE OFFICER FOR A WHILE, THE POLICE OFFICER WOULD SAY SOMETHING LIKE THIS — WELL, LOOKS LIKE YOU WANT TO TALK TO ME… SEEMS LIKE YOU’RE SOMEONE I CAN TALK WITH OPENLY AND HONESTLY… I BET YOU’RE QUITE EAGER TO TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED… I AM REALLY INTERESTED IN KNOWING YOUR SIDE OF THE STORY… LET’S FILL OUT A FORM… LET’S TAKE CARE OF THE PAPERWORK… THEY WILL VERY NICELY AND VERY EASILY GET YOU TO GIVE UP OR WAIVE YOUR RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT AND YOUR RIGHT TO LEGAL COUNSEL. NUMBER 5: OPEN QUESTIONS. THE PLEASANT TONE OF VOICE WILL MOST LIKELY REMAIN THROUGHOUT THE OPEN QUESTIONS PORTION. THEY WILL ASK YOU OPEN ENDED QUESTIONS TO GENERATE AS MUCH INFORMATION AS POSSIBLE SO THAT POTENTIAL INCONSISTENCIES IN YOUR STATEMENTS CAN BE IDENTIFIED AND USED AGAINST YOU. POLICE OFFICERS CAN GET A PRETTY GOOD SENSE OF WHEN YOU’RE TENSE OR NERVOUS AND UNCERTAIN OR LYING ABOUT THINGS. BECAUSE REMEMBER THEY HAD ALREADY ESTABLISHED A BASELINE OF YOUR BEHAVIOUR DURING THE RAPPORT BUILDING PHASE OF THE INTERROGATION. THIS OPEN QUESTION INTERVIEWING PROCESS CAN VARY IN TERMS OF LENGTH OF TIME. NUMBER SIX: ACCUSATION! THEN, THE ACCUSATORY PROCESS OF INTERROGATION WILL COME. THE POLICE OFFICER WILL ACCUSE YOU OF THE CRIME CONFIDENTLY, UNWAVERINGLY, AND REPEATEDLY. THEY WOULD SAY THINGS LIKE — WE KNOW FOR A FACT THAT YOU DID IT, I JUST WANT TO UNDERSTAND WHY! AND YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO DENY THINGS. THE POLICE OFFICER WILL INTERRUPT ALL YOUR DENIALS. THEY WOULD DISMISS YOUR DENAILS AS IMPOSSIBLE AND CONTRADICTORY TO THE FACTS OF THE CASE. ESSENTIALLY, THEY WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO EFFECTIVELY VERBALIZE ANY COHERENT DENIALS OR DEFENSE. THEY WILL SAY THINGS LIKE — STOP DENYING IT! STOP TALKING! LISTEN TO ME! LISTEN TO ME NOW! I WILL GIVE YOU THE OPPORTUNITY TO TALK IN JUST A MOMENT, BUT RIGHT NOW, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU LISTEN TO ME CAREFULLY! WHY DO THEY SAY THAT? WHY DO THEY TELL YOU THAT YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THEM? IT IS NOT BECAUSE THEY HAVE SOMETHING TERRIBLY IMPORTANT TO SAY. RATHER, IT IS BECAUSE THE POLICE INTERROGATION TECHNIQUE INDICATES THAT THE SUSPECT SHOULD NOT HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO VERBALIZE DENIALS. NEXT: FALSE EVIDENCE PLOYS. THE POLICE OFFICER WILL CONFRONT YOU WITH EVIDENCE AGAINST YOU, SOMETIMES REAL EVIDENCE, SOMETIMES FABRICATED EVIDENCE — KNOWN AS A FALSE EVIDENCE PLOY. THEY WILL SAY THAT THEY HAVE YOUR FINGERPRINTS, OR THEY’VE GOT YOUR DNA, OR THEY HAVE EYEWITNESS TESTIMONIES, OR THEY HAVE SURVEILLANCE TAPES, OR THEY HAVE AUDIO RECORDINGS — THEY CAN SAY ANYTHING. IN FACT, IT IS VERY LIKELY THAT THE POLICE OFFICER WHO HAS BEEN QUESTIONING YOU HAS A BIG FOLDER IN FRONT OF THEM WITH YOUR NAME ON IT — MAKING YOU THINK THAT THEY HAVE ALL KINDS OF EVIDENCE AND PAPERS ON YOU. THEY MAY ALSO HAVE WITH THEM VIDEOTAPES OR CD-ROMS, MAKING YOU THINK THAT THEY HAVE VIDEO OR AUDIO RECORDINGS OF YOU. THIS IS ALL TO PUT PSYCHOLOGICAL PRESSURE ON YOU AND THIS IS ALL LEGAL. THE POLICE IS LEGALLY PERMITTED TO USE DECEIT WHEN INTERROGATING SUSPECTS, REMEMBER THAT! NUMBER NINE: THEMES. THE ACCUSATORY PROCESS OF INTERROGATION WILL CULMINATE WITH THE USE OF THEMES — A BAD THEME AND A GOOD THEME, BOTH OF WHICH WILL SAY THAT YOU COMMITTED A CRIME THAT YOU’RE BEING ACCUSED OF, BUT ONE SAYS THAT YOU DID IT BECAUSE YOU ARE EVIL AND BECAUSE YOU INTEND TO DO SO AND BECAUSE YOU WANTED TO CAUSE HARM TO THE VICTIM, WHEREAS THE OTHER THEME WILL SAY DID IT BY ACCIDENT, OR YOU DIDN’T KNOW WHAT YOU WERE DOING, OR YOU WERE DRUNK, OR IT WAS SPUR OF THE MOMENT, OR THE VICTIM DESERVED IT, WHATEVER… IN OTHER WORDS, THE GOOD THEME OFFERS YOU MORAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL JUSTIFICATIONS FOR THE CRIME — IT IS JUST AN ACCIDENT, IT’S JUST A MISTAKE, WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES, IT’S NO BIG DEAL, AND IF YOU GO ALONG WITH THE GOOD THEME, THERE WILL BE A LESSER CHARGE AND THE JUDGE WILL BE VERY LENIENT WHEN IT COMES TO SENTENCING. THE GOOD THEME IS ALSO KNOWN AS THE MINIMIZATION — IT MINIMIZES THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE CRIME AND IT MINIMIZES THE CHARGE AND PUNISHMENT. THE BAD THEME, BY CONTRAST, IS MAXIMIZATION — MAXIMIZING THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE CRIME, MAXIMIZING THE PUNISHMENT, THREATENING YOU, SCARING YOU. THE CONTRASTING EFFECTS OF MINIMIZATION AND MAXIMIZATION ASSOCIATED WITH THE GOOD THEME AND THE BAD THEME ARE VERY SIMILAR TO THOSE OF THE GOOD COP AND BAD COP ROUTINE. ANY RATIONAL PERSON IN THAT SITUATION WILL CHOOSE THE GOOD THEME. CONFESSION: AS SOON AS THE POLICE OFFICER SENSES THAT YOU’RE ABOUT TO STOP RESISTING AND GO ALONG WITH A GOOD THEME, BY THE WAY, THEY CAN USUALLY TELL THIS BY YOUR BODY LANGUAGE AND YOUR POSTURE. POLICE INTERROGATORS ARE TRAINED TO SPOT THE SO-CALLED SURRENDER POSITION SO THAT THEY CAN TELL WHEN YOU ARE ABOUT TO BREAK. AS SOON AS THEY SENT YOU’RE ABOUT TO ADMIT GUILT OR CONFESS, THEY WILL MOVE CLOSER TO YOU, THEY MIGHT PUT A HAND ON YOU — KIND OF NUDGING YOU ON AND ENCOURAGING YOU. THEY WILL SAY THAT YOU ARE DOING THE RIGHT THING — YOU’RE DOING THE RIGHT THING! THIS IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO! THEY MIGHT BRING IN ANOTHER OFFICER AT THIS POINT TO ENSURE THAT YOU DO NOT CHANGE YOUR MIND ABOUT CONFESSING. THEY MAY ALSO TRY TO CONVERT OUR CONFESSION INTO A WRITEN ONE — ASKING YOU TO WRITE THINGS DOWN. THEY MIGHT EVEN TRICK YOU INTO WRITING AN APOLOGY LETTER TO THE VICTIM, TELLING YOU THAT IT’S GOING TO HELP YOU BECAUSE IT’S GOING TO MAKE THE JUDGE SEE THAT YOU’RE SORRY. THEN, OF COURSE, THE APOLOGY LETTER WILL ACTUALLY BE RECORDED AS A WRITTEN CONFESSION. SO, IN CONCLUSION, THESE POLICE INTERROGATION TECHNIQUES HAVE BEEN SHOWN TO BE VERY VERY EFFECTIVE. THEY CAN EVEN LEAD AN INNOCENT SUSPECT TO QUESTION THEMSELVES, TO DOUBT THEIR OWN MEMORY, AND TO FALSELY CONFESS TO A CRIME THAT THEY DID NOT COMMIT. THERE ARE MANY ACTUAL POLICE INTERROGATION VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE — SOME OF THEM INVOLVE GUILTY SUSPECT, SOME OF THEM SHOW FALSE CONFESSIONS BY INNOCENT PEOPLE. WHY DON’T YOU GO AHEAD AND WATCH A FEW OF THESE VIDEOS? YOU WILL BE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE THE DIFFERENT ELEMENTS THAT WE HAVE DISCUSSED IN THIS VIDEO. IF YOU PAY CLOSE ATTENTION, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SPOT ALL THESE TECHNIQUES IN POLICE INTERROGATION VIDEOS. I HOPE YOU FIND THIS VIDEO INTERESTING INFORMATIVE! These are accurate descriptions of what typically occurs. Claim your rights and speak with an attorney if you are contacted by a purported victim or the police. Rule of thumb: If police want to talk to you, it is likely they want to arrest you but do not have enough evidence to do so; do not give it to them. Do not speak with them at all until you see an attorney to provide cover/deniability to anything that transpires with police beyond that initial contact. You do not know what it is you may say that gives probable cause or more, so stay silent. If free to leave (ask!), then leave. If not, then remain silent except to ask for attorney, that should stop all questioning. If cannot afford attorney should be appointed one and that may take a while, so be patient, be silent, and have best chance for good outcome.

    Know your rights
    1. I do not consent to Searches. (4th Amendment).
    2. I do not consent to stay here with you for any reason. Are you detaining me or am I free to go? (If on your property, modify accordingly: “I do not consent for you to be on my property for any reason. I feel my life is threatened by your presence. Do you have a warrant? If not leave NOW.
    3. I invoke my right to an attorney.(6th Amendment). Get me one.
    4. I am not answering any questions (5th Amendment). I invoke my right to remain silent.
    5. Then STFU. Period.

Never ever communicate with these lying bastards. They don't give a fuck if you are innocent and they know it, if you were in the wrong place at the wrong time you can become their target for an easy conviction. Cops for the most part are scum bag psychopaths and they are getting worse every year. In Albuquerque, NM the filthy pigs were murdering homeless people camping in the desert for fun until it got out. I don't think anything ever happened to the murderers in a blue costume. Pre 60s America was majority Christian which meant most cops came from good homes and had respect for the lives of others but not now, they kill old ladies, children, electricians, plumbers, people who call for help, nobody is safe and its only getting worse.

I would totally have them buying all kind of food thinking they are going to get a confession. After eating I would ask for a pen and paper, making them think I'm going to write a confession. I would write 4 words in all caps and hand it to them, die laughing at the look on their faces, then repeat the words out loud. "I WANT A LAWYER!" Then thank them for the food. 😂😂😂😂 the majority of cops are not smarter than a fifth grader.

It is easy to get a little carried away with this and brand criminal investigators and police officers as inherently bad for doing this but we shouldn't forget that all these guys are just as human as we are and thus make mistakes just as everyone else does. Plus we need to keep in mind that they simply do what they were taught in the academy and they follow orders like everyone else. Thirdly, being human as the rest of us, during the course of a criminal investigation, it is very easy for police officers to get zeroed in, in a sort of tunnel vision, on one single suspect and once they do, they will do whatever they can to book this suspect whether he or she is guilty or not and there are reasons for that. Here in my city for instance, the city of Houston, we have an average of about 280 murders per year that need investigating. To do this, the Harris County Sheriffs Office and the Houston Police Department combined have about 60 detectives specialized in investigating homicides. That means each one of them gets on average 3 homicide cases to investigate per month, that's one every ten days and an impossible work load when considering what it takes to properly investigate a homicide. Add to that the pressure put to them by the district attorney's office and the mayor's office to get results because there are a bunch of people who have elections to win. When considering all of that, it isn't hard to imagine why detectives and officers are much more interested in closing cases than solving them. So attacking police for using questionable methods, which by the way have all been affirmed by our very own US Supreme Court as being lawful, is barking up the wrong tree.
But things being as they are, I would also advise everyone who finds him/herself in a situation of being questioned or interrogated by police, NEVER to talk to them under any circumstances. The US attorney general Robert "justice" Jackson who prosecuted the leftover Nazi leadership at Nuremberg once said: "No one in his right mind should ever consent to talking to police when asked to do so."

Always assert your rights to remain silent and to legal representation, and then SHUT UP.
In an interview or interrogation (distinction without a difference), always SHUT UP, because whatever you say can and will be used against you.
Let the facts come out in the jury trial and be sure to mention in front of the jury about Jury Nullification.

Likewise, a cop decides just as quickly as to whether or not he thinks you're guilty, and once again talking will only harm you. In both cases, keep your mouth shut until you're out the door. LOL 🙂

I had police chief Wiggin in my home I did not open my front door to him I was sitting at my kitchen table when I notice him he would not identify himself started questioning about an indictable crime I supposed to have committed started of by saying if I want a lawyer I said no because I knew what he was fishing for. he said oh how do you know what I said I'm a medium so I outlined my version of events I was able to answer his questions before he could even be asked about them, over the next 2 years he came back 6 times & thought I must be guilty but I said to him before he finished talking he said their records show that I confessed to a lawyer years ago, I said if that was the case how come I have never been to jail or court or how come it has taken you 45 years to come to interview me mmmmm? I also stated that I was never been arrested & I know your officers have gone more out of their way to keep me from being employed. if you arrest me now I will make sure the media knows about it & will sue for 160 million dollars for failing to caution me etc as I have spent the majority of the last 45 years unemployed thank you very much.. & I'm still free to go about without ny dramas.

If you find yourself in an interrogation situation the only thing you need to remember is say NOTHING if the punk-bitches knew you did whatever for sure100% you would be in cuffs. PERIOD….. The punk bitches need it straight from your mouth or be they wouldn't be asking. If they ask you if you want a cigarette- say nothing…if they ask you if you want something to drink say nothing…you hopefully get the point. Once you open your mouth the punk-bitches will run with it. The only thing you can do at this point is ask for a lawyer, "Which you should have done in the beginning" and for some vasoline, cause they are sure going straight for your ass. The police, I mean punk-bitches are not your friend contrary to popular belief. I know cause it has saved me a time or two, but don't take it from me find out for yourself.

You can never trust the police to be honest. If you're not guilty and try to explain your innocence police will lie about what you said to them. NEVER talk to police EVER.

  • Reply SGTSnakeUSMC October 26, 2019 at 4:47 am

"I want my attorney." That is all you should ever say.

  • Reply Juri Vlk October 26, 2019 at 11:55 am

Cops are just assholes. They lie to you all the time and sum you to be honest! Never trust a cop, he never is your friend. They don't give a shit if you're guilty or not, they just want to ass-fuck you. And many times, they just are working for the system and love to show their power.

Note: Here in the US our rights state, "…right to remain silent…". These rights are there wether you are detained or not or if you are read your rights or not; however, keep in mind, you MUST invoke your right by stating so, i.e. "I invoke my right to remain silent". Once stated, do not respond to any verbal communication. Not even a yes or no. To do so "may" negate the aforementioned invocation.

If the cops really have the evidence they claim to have during their interrogation, they would have no reason to spend time interrogating you. They only conduct interrogations when they don’t have sufficient evidence, and they’re looking to talk their suspect into volunteering the evidence they still need.

Any home incident, the cops will seperate the family. Teach all not to answer ANY questions no matter how friendly or innocent (..what grade are you in?…) Have a secret family SAFE WORD….if the cop says "your mother said it's OK to tell me…." without the safe word, you know he is lying. And you're NOT answering anyhow, right.

FIRST WORD I WANT A LAWYER. Even if your innocent Call an attorney. Often you are the most convent patsy, so you must be guilty. If they believe your guilty they may keep you for hours, until your confused and worn out. Some are honest and are looking for the truth, but not all. Many are nice guys who love the power. Call a lawyer.

Are you allowed to aak if you're now being interrogated instead of questioned? Or can they lie about that too?

  • Reply ZHEQRERE November 1, 2019 at 7:47 pm

I don't trust the police. I have no reason to trust them and the media has not GIVEN me a reason to trust them. If an officer decides to take me into a room and "have a chat", first thing I'm saying is: "I'm sorry but with all due respect I have the right to remain silent and will exercise that right." Be firm, BUT BE POLITE! Acting like a sarcastic dick just because you're innocent does not help you have a good day.

I was once a prime suspect in a $11K petty cash theft at my workplace. Interrogation went down EXACTLY the way described here. As the innocent party, my mistake was expecting that me agreeing to be interviewed at the station, which bait and switched to interrogated, was going to help them with their investigation. instead they spent 5 hrs trying to get a confession. Until you've lived it, you cant relate to how scary and stressful it is when you're innocent.

Because I realized working with dirty cops meant I'd wear their dirt.
All cops 3 years over initial higher date, are DIRTY, somewhere somehow, their ALL DIRTY.
btw, they are not the authorities, We The People are.
    Cops are public servants.
